Keylink is a tool that allows to launch programs without searching the start menu or directories.
Keylink works similar to the search in the start menu that is integrated in Windows Vista.
The main idea is similar as follows.
You have created the following entries in Keylink:
Adobe Photoshop CS
Adobe Image Ready
Borland Delphi 7 Enterprise
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Word
You want to launch Photoshop.
To do this you bring the Keylink window to the front by pressing the keyboard shortcut Strg-Windows button.
In Keylink you now type "phot" and as "Adobe Photoshop CS" is the only entry containing "phot" only this entry is viewed. Now you press enter and Photoshop is launched.
If you want to view all the programs from the company Adobe you just type "Adobe". Now the first two entries are shown.
Adding files and folders to Keylink is ususally done using drag&drop.
Keylink can also execute windows orders. To do this a comma has to be typed before the search text.
",regedit" will launch the registry editor for example and
",ping 192.168.1.1" will ping the given ip.
Additionaly it is possible to navigate in directories and to do basic file operations.

Keylink contains all entries that you added yourself. These can be as many as you want and of different types. You will mainly add programms but also URLs, directories and windows commands. Some often used entries like "my computer" and the "control panel" are already added when you run Keylink for the first time.
Keylink is usually opened using the keyboard shortcut Strg+Win or Alt+Win. If you have a keyboard without a window button you can use Strg+"<" instead.
There are several ways to add new entries. The most comfortable one is to use drag&drop.
The menu "options -> add entry" can also be used.

When you use Keylink you hardly need the start menu as all of your programs can more easily be launched with Keylink.
A Keylink user does not really need the desktop as all tasks can as well be done using Keylink.
